Duties & Responsibilities:Greets and addresses visitors to the Southern Regional Office of the Professional Standards Bureau.

Answers the telephone, directing the caller to the correct person, or if appropriate, answers the caller's questions.

Process incoming mail for the South Region containing PC's, Injury to Prisoner (ITP) reports, Illness reports, Audits, transfer requests, complaints from outside the agency, complaints from AG and IG's offices which require reply from Regional Staff Inspector.

Draft letters as requested from the Regional Staff Inspector or PSB Staff. Return to Regional Staff Inspector and/or PSB Staff for signature as required.

Prepare and maintain Audit related memos, files, reports and correspondence. Maintains and updates the Audit Schedules/Reports.

Types memorandums and letters as directed by the South Regional Staff Inspector and PSB Staff.

Keep track of Audit reports and Personnel Complaint reports and due dates. When returned after review, note in database the location PC reports and date routed to that location. Upon return, note in database the return date and current location of PC (PSB).

Print late report list for the Southern Region, Bimonthly and submit to Regional Staff Inspector for review.

Enters information into the locally maintained SRO Injury to Person in Custody databases (Spreadsheets) and track due dates.

Schedules appointments for the Southern Regional Staff Inspector and PSB Staff as requested.

Transcribe audio statements for investigations of Southern Region. This requires knowledge of transcription equipment, WavPedal, and ability to transcribe from digital/tape recordings with speed and accuracy.

Maintains and updates Drug Testing scheduling, organizing Urine test kits as directed by the Regional Staff Inspector and PSB Staff.

Prepares Travel Vouchers when necessary.

Is familiar with the office equipment and can photocopy and operate the fax machine. Maintain office supplies as necessary.
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:One (1) year permanent service as a New York State employee with one (1) year service in a title allocated SG-6 or higher.

Must have appropriate clerical skills, knowledge of Division policies, and proper office procedure.

Must be proficient in the operation of personal computers and various software including word processing and related database programs.

Must successfully pass transcription and typing proficiency tests.
Additional Comments:Starting Salary: $40,586.00.
