Duties & Responsibilities:Under the Supervision of the Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, the following duties and responsibilities are performed:

Participates in meetings and works with agency management, users, vendors, consultants, and IT staff to discuss IT solution options and assists in recommending appropriate system platforms for meeting program requirements.

May participate in the testing phase of application development such as assisting in the development of test plans, test conditions and validation testing

Develops, prepares, and assists with documentation preparation for systems, including procedural manuals and on-line help instructions for users, and technical documentation manuals for end users of systems.

Participates as a second level support team member for various New York State Police applications as well as other state agency applications.

Plans, executes, and performs quality assurance measures on system user acceptance tests of programs and systems.

May coordinate with vendors in the installation, administration, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software.

Utilizes job stream techniques, Job Control Languages/scripts, and utility programs to identify, analyze and solve production problems/issues.

Assists in the development and execution of enterprise and CJIS information security procedures and protocols.

Assists customer agencies in complying with CJIS policies and standards as well as other mandatory regulations

Utilizes identity and access management software to create and manage user identities and to provide access to system resources.

Performs audit searches by running utility programs for legal and FOIL requests; which includes meeting with customers, legal personnel and law enforcement agencies to ensure proper protocols are followed and information is secure to be released.

Assists in providing training of criminal justice agencies regarding training of New York State Police applications, including their use and applicable usage and security policies

Coordinate with New York State criminal justice agencies to ensure that the FBI NCIC Division policies and procedures are adhered to and act as the liaison to answer any procedural questions they may have.
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:An associate's degree or higher level degree in computer science, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems;

OR 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science;

OR a total of one year of experience in the following computer related areas: network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications, IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis, and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design, and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing.
Additional Comments:Starting Salary: $44,564.00.
