|Duties & Responsibilities:||Develop and maintain quality assurance protocols for all laboratory sections.
Issue proficiency tests for all disciplines for existing laboratory protocols.
Recommend and approve corrective action when analytical discrepancies occur.
Coordinate laboratory audits and monitor compliance with policy and procedures within the laboratory system.
Supervise the quality assurance staff in the laboratory system, which includes responsibility for the system's safety coordinator, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) administrator and the Forensic Investigation Center's clerical support.
Direct the system's Intern Program, which includes paid and unpaid interns assigned to the various laboratories within the system including candidate selection, development of individual internship programs within the laboratories disciplines, monitoring internship activity and reporting results to intern's colleges and universities.
Prepare the laboratory system for accreditation reviews, audits and inspections as mandated by Executive Law.
Maintain training records for all laboratory employees in accordance with applicable criteria.
|Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:||Have held the position of Forensic Scientist 3 for five years or comparable experience.
Preference will be given to those individuals who possess the following:
Experience as a certified inspector for a forensic laboratory accreditation or inspection body, such as ASCLD/LAB and DNA Advisory Board (DAB).
Formal training in Quality Assurance as well as relevant quality assurance experience and membership in a recognized quality assurance professional group.
An advanced degree in Business Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related science.
|Additional Comments:||Starting Salary: $83,493.00.
