|Duties & Responsibilities:||The Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail), SG-9, assigned to the Finance/Quartermaster Section at Division Headquarters will supervise and perform clerical and manual activities involved in the processing of incoming and outgoing mail and for the receipt, storage and distribution of office supplies, equipment, forms and related material. Such activities require the application of established mail and supply methods, procedures and regulations.
Supervise Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail), SG-6, and all activities relating to mailing and shipping and receipt of items delivered to the building. Assigns work to subordinates.
Schedule mailroom activities, observe the efficiency and accuracy of activities of the Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail), SG-6, and initiate remedies when problems are identified.
Instruct, answer questions and provide guidance for procedures and regulations concerning the performance of these tasks. These include interpreting and applying U. S. Postal Service regulations, OGS procedures, Federal Express, and United Parcel Service policies and procedures.
Review and remedy customer service or other problems that are identified. Make recommendations to section managers of more efficient procedures if problems are recognized. Initiate and follow through on changes in mailroom procedures if modifications are approved by section managers.
Oversee the receiving, storing and distribution of materials and equipment in the mailroom and delivery areas.
Prepare purchase requisitions to procure supplies and materials.
|Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:||One year in an Office Assistant 1 position allocated SG-6 or higher.
Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position including, but not limited to, manual labor.
Preference will be given to candidates with overall knowledge of warehousing and stores operations.
|Additional Comments:||Starting Salary: $33,972.00.
This position does not require that the candidate have taken and passed a NYS Civil Service examination, or currently hold a qualifying position within the NYS Civil Service System.
