|Duties & Responsibilities:||The Supervisor Forensic Services assigned to the Western Regional Crime Laboratory (WRCL) is responsible for administration of the technical and scientific functions of all forensic analysis performed at the Western Regional Crime Laboratory, including supervision of testing procedures and reports of findings; technical problem solving and analytical methods; and for the oversight of training, quality assurance, safety, adherence to American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors - Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD-LAB) ISO Standards, Standards Established by the NYS Divisions of Criminal Justice Services and proficiency testing.
Responsible for the administration of the technical and scientific operations of all forensic analyses in the drug chemistry sections at WRCL and Southern-Tier Regional Crime Laboratory (STRCL), including supervision of a team of Drug Chemists in forensic laboratory procedures and the preparation of reports of forensic findings.
Responsible for technical problem solving of analytical methods and for the oversight of training, quality assurance, safety and proficiency testing at the WRCL.
Responsible for continuing education programs and serves as a resource person for criminal justice personnel.
Have administrative oversight of the Trace Evidence section at the WRCL.
Consult with the Director of Quality Assurance regarding laboratory quality issues and accreditation matters.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Director, Assistant Director or Laboratory Captains.
|Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications:||A Master's Degree in a Natural or Physical Science, Administration (e.g. Public Administration, Business Administration or Criminal Justice) or Computer Science;
Have a minimum of four (4) years satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist or its equivalent in another laboratory.
Preference will be given to an individual with a technical background in forensic drug chemistry.
